It is the leading NHS-accredited mental wellbeing app which uses clinical screening scales for the detection of common mental health issues (depression and anxiety). Thrive has also integrated computerised cognitive behavioural therapy (cCBT) as a tool accessible to all its users. We have designed bite-size sessions which employees can work through at ease, with no prior knowledge or experience of CBT needed. Alongside the clinical expertise of its co-founders, Thrive was built by the lead developer behind Tomb Raider, which assures you with the confidence of an expertly designed, gamified clinical tool. Thrive is also a social enterprise, not private equity backed, meaning every penny we make is reinvested back into the research and development of our service to improve the experience for the user. Our margins on sales made do not need to be anywhere near as high, meaning organisations receive higher quality support at a lower cost.
With a focus on prevention, early detection and self management, Thrive compliments existing services such as EAP. We offer a seamless integration with EAP and the co-existence of both provides a more comprehensive model of support for employees. On average, EAP usage is between 1-5% and is typically used by people at the point of intervention (in other words, it is mainly reactive). Thrive allows all employees to have easy access to supportive tools on a daily basis to proactively manage their mental health and build resilience. The app’s design means we remove potential barriers around having to speak to someone directly (a common dissuasion for many). Thrive also provides quarterly, company-specific management information (MI) which breaks down the top five common stressors in your workplace, population demographics, usage data and the percentage of users screening positive for anxiety and depression, thus supporting your business to tailor its approach to mental health and wellbeing. With the right engagement strategy and support which Thrive provides, we regularly utilisation levels between 30-60% of the workforce.
Gamification is the application of game-like features to non-game contexts. It has the potential to increase the success of mental health interventions by extending the reach to people who may not otherwise use them, improve engagement through game-like and motivational dynamics and by utilising a combination of mechanisms for change, making it more accessible to the majority.
The app is available on all Android, Apple, and web-based devices. It is not currently supported on Windows phones, although this is in the development pipeline.
The data is completely confidential to the user. When a user seeks support, they ‘consent’ to share their data with the support network they’ve contacted. Their in-app progress report is then sent via email PDF to the service they’ve contacted. It is then up to the internal/external services to have policies built to get back in touch with the user directly to assist them.
When logging in to the app, we recommend you selecting the 'remember me' button to keep you logged in at all times. If you select this and you log online for a session the app will then work off line for that particular session. We need to validate your account every session for data security reasons, but after that you can use all relaxation techniques while offline.
